About
Julian's work has appeared worldwide on books, record sleeves, hotel walls and personal collections. Described in a 1995 magazine article as "postcards from Jack Kerouac when he was On the Road, high saturation colour shots of low life scenes which exude a sleazy glamour".
Some of Julian's work has been included in two shows for Habitat, these shows have featured a shooting of the actor John Malkovich. Julian has also created large pieces of art work for Malkovich. After travelling for 10 years around the globe shooting high profile bands on tour, Julian states that his "fascination with the States started in Los Angeles in the early nineties, while I was living in Venice Beach. Everything about California thrilled me the cars, cultures and even the big brash concrete landscapes. I was inspired to experiment with photography by "Rip Cronk" who painted many of the famous murals around Los Angeles.
I first visted New York in '97 hopping over from Toronto. I loved New York instantly. Visually you couldn't be further from LA, from the murals and memorial wall paintings in Harlem and the lower east side to the chilled out summer days in central park. I loved that feeling of always being in the right place at the right time!"
